CURLING

In this lesson we looked at curling the hair in two different ways.
I first separated the hair in half and clipped both sides up. I started by pulling down a little bit of hair at the bottom of one side so I could work my way up.

I would curl small sections at a time to make sure the curls weren't too thick. I made sure the tongs were facing up when i curled the hair. Then when i took them out, I pinned the curls into place like in the pictures below.

For the other half of the hair, I curled each section rolling the hair around the tongs from the bottom inwards to the scalp.

And then clipped them into place until they cooled down.

Once the curls had cooled, I took out the pins and compared both sides.

The second side was a lot higher than the other side and the curls were much bigger and thicker.

I then curled the hair using the brick wall theory (like in the pictures below). In this technique I used the second curling technique to raise the hair and create bigger curls.

Because the curls were too thick and heavy, they didn't stay in place so it didn't look like a brick wall.

When I took out the curls, the overall look was really successful. I used a pintail comb to loosen up the curls and make the hair bigger and more curly.
