MY PARTNERS DESIGN
My partners design consisted of a quiff at the front which was crimped and backcombed, a strand of hair hanging down one side of the face and a messy fish tail braid on the other. She also wanted 3 roses to be clipped into the back of the quiff, to hide the back of the quiff where all of the clips were. She wanted a necklace to be hanging over the quiff but due to not finding the right necklace, we decided that this probably wasn't the best idea to include. I was really happy with the design she came up with because it was simple yet very effective and well thought about. It also worked really well with her own hair and she had shorter hair at the side, which would work well with the design. She also has very long hair so the fish tail braid would look effective.
I practiced at home on myself and on one of my flat mates but due to not having crimpers at home and not having the roses, it didn't look like the design and looked like i'd just practiced a fishtail braid which i already knew how to do so i didn't take any images of it. Also, practicing on myself was difficult because she designed the design for her own hair and not mine so it worked a lot better on her. I didn't get to practice on her because when either of us were free, the other one wasn't so it was very hard to find the time to practice. Also, we didn't have a lot of time to practice because in some lessons we had, one of us wasn't in each lesson - which was quite difficult and vexatious. However, overall i was happy with the design she created and felt happy and comfortable doing this in the exam.
TIMED ASSESSMENT
I was and am really happy with how the final look turned out. I love the design and had fun doing it. Firstly i sectioned out the hair so i could decide which parts needed to be crimped. I began crimping the hair and when finished pinned the quiff in place. I then pulled all of the hair round to the side i wanted the braid on, and automatically the small strands of hair fell out on the opposite side - like how she wanted on her design. Once i finished braiding the hair, i pulled the braid to make it messier and wider. I finished off the look but pinning the real roses my partner had picked up in. I cut the roses of the stalk and using bobby pins and grips i pushed them through the petals and placed them in the hair. I made sure that all of the roses where tightly next to each other and so you couldn't see the hair underneath the roses. I was also careful so that none of the roses petals fell off. I was extremely happy with how the back of the hair looked, but if i could change anything i would put more volume in the quiff so it was higher at the front. But overall, I was very happy with the outcome and the design.
