MY DESIGN

Design

For my design I wanted to show Elizabethan styles but with a modern day look. I wanted to include crimping as texture was a big part of Elizabethan styles and I thought the bigger the better. I got the two pony tails idea from a beauty image I found. I thought having hair hanging down either side of the face looked really effective but I wanted it to be tidier so I came up with the idea of two pony tails.

I wanted the ponytails to be pulled tight so it was smooth and straight going into the hairband but then crimped and back combed coming out of it.

Because I have a lot of baby hair, I came up with the idea of instead of wetting it and combing it into the rest of the hair, I would wet the hair and curl it on to the face and hair spray it. Something like the images below.

In the first few weeks of university we learnt how to braid and I wanted to include this technique in my design. I thought that instead of having a plain back to the hair, it could be French braided into the ponytails.

I thought this design reflected aspects of Elizabethan styles but with more of a modern day twist, new Elizabethan! I like the idea that this could be a design used in a beauty image for a magazine.

HAIR EXAM - MY DESIGN

Overall I am really happy with how my stylist did my design. She followed my instructions on my hair chart really well and I wouldn't have changed anything she did, apart from maybe back comb the ponytails more so they were bigger! But I am very happy with it!
