1. TWO BUNS
My first design was a traditional Elizabethan design. It consisted of two large heart shaped quiffs, braids, pearls and lace. In this design the whole front of the head, to around the crown, is pulled back in small braids. The braids lead into two large heart shape inspired quiffs which relate well to the classic Elizabethan look. The quiffs are held in place by small pearls that would be pinned into the crown area, with the attempt of hiding where the braids go into the quiffs. At the back of the head, I wanted to keep it simple so I decided the best look to do was to hold the back of the quiffs in place with some black lace which could be bought at a fabric shop. And the rest of the hair I wanted neet and tidy and not very detailed.
2. BRAID BUN
This design didn't look as effective as the first design. What I am trying to get across in this hair chart is, two french plaits separating in the middle at the front of the head, being tied round to the back, I wanted the top section of the hair to be crimped and quiffed and then tied into a tight bun at the back of the head. This gives a modern feel to the look, which contrasts against the historical themed look of the quiff. With the rest of the hair I wanted to french braid in a circular motion around the bottom of the head and then let the rest of the braid hang down one side. I don't particularly like this design because it all clashes and doesn't seem like it would work well together. I wouldn't use this design as my final hair piece either because it doesn't necessarily reflect the Elizabethan look as well as I thought it would.
3. TWO PONYTAILS
My final hair chart was this. I wanted to incorporate different techniques learnt in the normal hair lessons and Elizabethan hair lessons. To do so, I wanted to keep it simple. Two french braids would be going up at the back leading into two ponytails which are crimped and backcombed. I want the hair at the front to be wet and pulled back so it looks really tidy. The two ponytails are crimped and then backcombed so they look big and reflect a sense of Elizabethan style. I didn't want the heart shape style exactly but with two ponytails it sort of reminds me of that style. All of the excess baby hair at the sides and the top of the head, will be wet and then hair sprayed to the head in curled shapes. This creates more of an interesting look to the final design and makes it less simple. I think this is my favourite design of the three because it gives a modern take on Elizabethan designs and I think it would be something different to what other people have designed, seeing as we haven't learnt about two ponytailed designs in this topic.
